Well Poop. You see, this is what you get when you declare something is "fixed" ... !! Millie woke up every 2 hours All. Night. Long. last night.... Waaaaahhh!!! Oh man. I'm so worn out! Nevertheless we had things to do so off went hubby to work, and on we went with the day. I made pancakes for breakfast as we were out of bread, cereal and crackers. Carbs much? So pancakes it was. They were yummy. AND as I cooked them withOUT butter this time, the kitchen was a LOT less SMOKY! I DO hope I remember to not use butter next time, remind me, 'K?
After pancakes I gave Millie some milk and a little rice cereal ( wall paper paste.. ) and then lay her down for a nap. She napped for one hour! ( Progress! ) During her nap I had a shower and got dressed then after I took her into town to the store. We did a little shopping and then I called hubby to see how he was doing... He offered to meet us for lunch so Millie and I headed to Red Robin to wait for him. I ordered the roast veggies and hummus which was an appetizer... I ate it, Rex had some, Millie had a taste AND I took the rest home and fed Jess and Jack for lunch!! Pretty good value if you ask me!! While we were at the restaurant we heard from our friends who were going to come and see us yesterday. They were back in town so we invited them over for pizza tonight. They agreed and so we arranged for them to come over at 5:30 or they would call if there was a problem. Tonight was the Mom's night out for the Down Syndrome group in town but since I hadn't seen these guys since last summer, I chose to skip the night out and visit with them instead.
I went home, hubby back to work, and 15 minutes after I got home Charlotte and Mary came to visit! Mary and I chatted as Char and Jessie (and Jack) played together. Hubby called to say he'd pick up the pizzas and I began to tidy the house whilst Mary helped watch Millie. After Mary went home ( Char is spending the night ) I finished off cleaning and vacuumed the place. Rex arrived soon after with two huge pizzas and asked if we had been robbed! Hah hah. :D
Anyway, it was 5:40 and I had a little voice in the back of my head wondering if they had sent a text or anything, since they hadn't called..... yup. 2:38 they texted saying they were going to have Happy Hour drinks and dinner with friends at the hotel and would we be around TOMORROW to visit. Sheesh.. Fool me once and all that. We were pretty cheesed off. I hadn't heard the text, the phone lives in my purse, it's one of those old ones, you know, a PHONE not a social network, I don't keep it in my hands all day long, so I didn't get the message. Now we had enough Pizza for 17 people. Still, at least the house is clean. Grrrr.
So I was in rather a rotten mood after that!!
Anyway, I gave Millie some dinner and took her upstairs for a bath. She was CrrrrRRRaaaZY!! She was wriggling around and being an absolute GOOF ball. She had a really quick bath but stood up to get out after only a moment or two, so I bundled her up, dried her off and got a diaper on her. I've been paying close attention to her mouth lately and tonight I stuck my finger in there and.... guess what?!!?! I feel a TOOTH!!! I can't believe how fast my little baby is growing!! So there ya go. I gave her some milk, swaddled her up and she's snoozing peacefully with her Hobbes tiger that Jessie bought her.
Jessie and Charlotte are up in Jessie's room playing games and reading
and Jackster is sitting at the table watching something or other on the iPad and trying out the headphones he is going to be using on the plane!!
Time for me to get him to bed and to get myself a nice cup of tea I believe!!
Night Peeps!

Drama. And Laundry.
Well well!! It seems we have Millie's lack of sleep issue FIXED!!! She just needed some solid food before bed!! This simple little addition has resulted in lovely long nights of MUCH needed sleep however somehow I feel more tired now than I did!! I've been doing some reading on sleep debt and apparently getting extra sleep after having been sleep deprived can make you feel worse for a while! I feel like the dog's dinner right now!!! Ah well... hopefully we can continue to maintain a decent sleep routine now and I can begin to restore my energy levels!!! ( OH MAN we hope so!)
So in other news, let's see... Today was ( and still is I guess, ) Thursday. Thursday is Jessie's day for Drama at the Coop (Co-op!?) but it doesn't start until 2. We have to leave our house about 1:40 to get there and I honestly spend the entire day thinking about it. I really HATE having an appointment in the afternoon! I'm such a morning person in that respect! I like to get things done and over with. Sitting around and waiting all day for an afternoon appointment gets on my nerves!! ( And I'm SURE being sleep deprived has NOTHING to do with it?!?! :D ) Happily I have made a lovely friend there so going and sitting for an hour and chatting isn't so bad! She wasn't there the last two weeks and I sure did miss chatting with her, but she was there today so that was nice!
We were supposed to have some relatives over to visit this afternoon but they ended up changing their plans. It's a shame as we were looking forward to seeing them and they haven't met Millie yet... but it will be nice to see them after our trip when I'm a little less nuts!!
As you may have seen yesterday our suitcases came but I was a little unsure that they would be small enough so hubby was sweet enough to go to the airport today and test them in the little measuring thingy and they are just fine so... tomorrow...the packing shall commence. Jack has already got his bag packed... full of toys. He and I are going to have to have a chat!!! He came in the bedroom again this morning trying to convince me it was time to go!! "But I've crossed off all the days on my calendar!!!" He and I spent a little time with a calendar today learning how they work... This is the MONTH.. there are 12 in a year... and so on. Then with a tennis ball, a thumbtack and a flashlight I tried to demonstrate how the earth gets light from the sun, why that is a DAY and why, even though we cross off the days on the piece of paper, we STILL have to wait for the Earth to turn before the next day comes!! We even did an experiment where we closed our eyes, crossed off a day in the calendar and then opened our eyes again and tried to see if it was tomorrow yet...!! It wasn't.
Other than that, really the day was just schlepping laundry from the couch to the bedroom, stumbling out into the 58 degree sunshine where we stood blinking amongst the other neighbors who had been drawn from their homes by the bright light, trying to make a reasonable dinner with the meagre offerings remaining in the house ( I'm a stress eater it turns out! ) and basically looking forward to going back to bed!!
I did take some adorable pics of Millie today though... if we are Facebook Friends you've already seen one of them but here's a couple more... You're probably sick of pictures of my babies!!
(Tough noodles!!!) :D

Suitcase Day!! :D
Waaay haaay!! Guess who's daughter slept for HOURS and HOURS last night?!?! MINE!!! Guess who ALSO slept pretty dang well thank you very much?! ME!! Guess who is surprised to find she's still pretty tired tonight though?? Me again.... It's going to take a few good nights for me to be fully recovered I think...!!
Miss Millie was in an AWESOME mood this morning though!! She was SOOOO cheery and happy after such a lovely sleep!! Here she is meeting the new baby in the mirror!! She LOVES that baby and whenever she sees her she tries to give her big slobbery kisses!!
Jessie and I spent some time watching out the window for the Fedex man and when he arrived we were pretty excited!!! :D One week today and we'll be strolling the streets of Pareee!! :D
Night all!

In other news... THESE arrived today......... !!!
Jessie and I spent some time watching out the window for the Fedex man and when he arrived we were pretty excited!!! :D One week today and we'll be strolling the streets of Pareee!! :D
I've been trying to give Millie some solids in hopes that it will help her sleep. ( It's not working tonight of course, I really REALLY didn't believe I would get two good nights in a row...! I think tonight she may have had too much to eat and her tummy probably hurts... : ( )
Anyway here she is chewing on a spoon....!!
I posted this blurry one because she looks JUST like me in it!!! I'll see if I can find the baby pic I am thinking of.......
Bah. I can't find it. Ah well.. I'll keep my eye out for it anyway! ;D
So given that I had lots of sleep and we were all in good moods I was able to get a fair bit done in the house. Laundry litters the couch tonight but it will all be put away tomorrow. You know how it goes.
So my plan tonight is to get to bed FAST before Millie catches on ... I hope her tummy doesn't bother her too much, poor munchkin!!
Love that Millie is hamming in this one!! |
Night all!
Tuesday, March 5
Too tired to think up a clever title! :D
So... this is what 90 minutes of sleep feels like....!! Ooof!! Rough night ?? Why yes! Yes it was!! The breathing treatment they gave Millie was not as effective as the one the PD gave us a coupld of weeks ago so we spent a lo~ho~HoT of time trying to help Millie and hubster took her out several times into the cold air. Sheesh. By morning... ( and by "morning" I mean 5:30 when all hope of getting any more sleep was lost ) she was fully recovered. and THAT is the nature of Croup, Ladies and Gentlemen!
After refusing the steroid shot at the hospital last night I had assured the doctor I would contact our Pediatrician (our FABULOUS Pediatrician!) so first thing this morning I gave them a call.. of COURSE they had an appointment in 40 minutes.... and it takes 20 minutes to get there... and I wasn't even DRESSED yet!! Eeep. A super fast shower and a quick change later and I was almost ready to go. My BELOVED daughter made me a cup of tea in a travel mug and a piece of toast with peanut butter and smashed banana to take with me for my breakfast!! How LUCKY am I ?!?! Anyway, I took Miss M into the PD's office ( and whilst waiting the hospital called my cell to check up on the baby! ) and he told me he was glad I didn't let her have the shot!!! YES!!!! I love it when I do the right thing every once in a while! The PD said he has tried to tell them at the hospital that it doesn't do any good and he's shown them information and what not... He's going to try again now he said!! Ho hum. Anyway I picked up a prescription from the doc and headed to Super Target to fill it. There was going to be a 30 minute wait ( oh darn.... what COULD I do to fill the time...??!!) so I wandered the store in my element! Once the prescription was filled and what not we headed back home to find Jessie had, once again, cleaned the kitchen and tidied up!! :D She watched Millie for me whilst Jack and I started some chicken soup cooking on the stove. Jack's so keen to cook, it's just heart warming!
Later in the day the big kids were playing Minecraft together. Little sister was keen to join in. She enjoys watching the iPod and iPad and DESPERATELY tries to have a go on them! Watching her big brother and sister play was just TOO MUCH to ignore!!...
Of course a good dose of Minecraft results in the children wandering around with their arms out, groaning and demanding "Braaaains".... LOL!! Zombies? Really!?! :D
So after all that fun we tried to get a nap out of our sweet baby. Hah. 20 minutes. NOT a nap! I was falling asleep nursing her and LONGED to get into bed myself but (foolishly) told myself I'd nap AFTER I paid the bills. You can guess what I heard over the baby monitor no sooner had I closed down the bill payer app, right?!! She's aWAAAake!! GAH!!
so after a warm bath it was a warmed towel, then lovely clean (100% cotton) clothes, a cotton blanket all swaddled up and some nice Milk....!! (Please please PLEASE let this result in some more sleep!!)

Tonight we are trying a new tactic...! BATHTIME!! Millie LOVES to have a bath ( she doesn't have one often but the last time she did, she discovered splashing!!! She actually CRIED when I took her out !! ) Our bath plug doesn't always work and it seems silly to fill a whole bath for a little baby so I bathed her in a plastic container!! ;D I sat her in it and SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH!! I was soaked in no time but she was having SUCH FUN!!! Hubby came in and took a pic or two.....

And in other news, you may (or may not?! :D ) have wondered what happened to Flylady at our house!?! ( ahem ) I guess she's TECHNICALLY still here but perhaps she got caught in one of the spider webs or dust bunnies!! To be honest I am so dog tired right now and as Millie isn't napping I don't get any time to actually DO anything!! I can't keep a decent eye on the little mischief AND clean the house. If we ever get naps sorted out then I can't WAIT to get on top of my home again! I LOVE the way it feels when it's clean and orderly.... not perfect, just tidy!! Some day, right!?! Someday.
er....
So the word of the day today is.... Hospital. Ugh.!!
My FIRST trip out to the hospital was this morning when I met Rex and we went to see Brendy and her new baby, stopping first at Panera to have some lunch and to pick her up some soup. From what I recall, hospital food is bland to say the least!! Rex and I stopped in and visited with Brendy and her beautiful little doll and then I dropped Rex back at work and I headed home. I fiddled around a bit doing crazy things like taking apart the car seat and washing it all and squeezing in a quick nap with Miss M. At 7pm we put Millie to bed and at 10 she woke up sounding dreadful with a terrible cough. Her breathing was a struggle and frankly she was scaring us. We took her outside in the cold air and that seemed to help and she was in fine spirits, but after the bronchialitis of two weeks ago we got nervous, packed her in the car and it was BACK to the hospital. They decided she had croup and gave her a breathing treatment. We have to see our PD in the morning and discuss whether she really needs a steroid shot too. (I'm hoping for "no") So one thirty in the morning and we are back home. She still sounds pretty rough when she coughs so if I get any sleep at all it will be with one ear open!

Cuddling Kitties! |
In the evening we had a friend over to celebrate his birthday with a little cake and ice cream
and when I was putting the kiddoes to bed I noticed an facebook message from my lovely friend Brendy letting everyone know she had her baby girl today! Such a lovely warm feeling to see a brand new baby again!
So a lovely, fun, happy day! Don't you love a Sunday?!
