After yet another Rough Day *sigh* I have decided to make a few changes around here! I can't give up on homeschooling Jack ... I will keep it in mind as an option, but I'm not ready and don't WANT to stop homeschooling. Anyway...... ( My family think it's hilarious to poke and pester me when I am BLOGGING!!! GO AWAY YOU GUYS!!! )...... so I brainstormed some ideas and this is what I have done so far....
*I called my across the street neighbor. She has two rambunctious boys and a HUGE fenced yard. I kept thinking of calling her but I only ever thought of it when I saw her driving off down the street somewhere!! Finally I called her today and we made plans to get together tomorrow!!
*I signed up for Babysitters4hire.com. They have a Valentine's Day special and you can sign up for a month for $12. A steal if you ask me considering MY babysitter is up and getting married and moving to California !!! WHAT!?!?!? I'm sure she's doing it just to get away from us! ;P At Babysitters4hire you put in your zip code and a list of available babysitters will pop up for your perusal. I was surprised at the number of applicants near me as we live out of town. Of course I will have to interview them and get references and such, but I think it's pretty damn important that Rex and I get out together a little more and maybe I'll go out alone during the week once in a while!
*I emailed to see if I could get Jack signed up for wrestling classes. He needs some structured way to get his energy out and I think he'll likely be much better behaved when I'm not there, so it's a risk I'm willing to take!!! :D
*I also emailed a local Child Development Center to see if they would be willing to take Jack once in a while on an hourly basis. Again I think he'd benefit from their structure and I would benefit from having a little time alone now and then!!
*Finally I'm going to try a little structure with him. I say a little as I know we don't do well with routines as a family. I realised that I had been trying to be too rigid. At 8am we will do THIS at 8:30 we will do THIS at 9am we will do THAT..... Now I'm going to try ...WHEN we wake up, we wash our faces, go to the toilet and get dressed. AFTER we get dressed we have our breakfast. AFTER breakfast we clear our dishes..... that sort of thing. I'm thinking that could work for us....!! I'll let you know how it all goes.
Chaos is breaking out upstairs.... the puppy has pooped in the bedroom, Jack has stepped in it with bare feet and is jumping on the bed...... oh JEEEEPERS CREEEEPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you find something that works for both of you--and soon! I applaud you calmly sitting down and thinking through options rather than just throwing your hands up in despair and eating all the chocolate in the house. Ummm....how is the stash, anyways? :-)
Weeeellll.... The chocolate stash is empty which is what forced me to make some changes!! ;D
No chocolate? There's something that needs to be changed! ;) Good luck with the changes.
